Father/daughter Hoe Down and final run

Tonight was the Father/Daughter Hoe Down at CPA. The girls dressed the part and seemed to have a great time, per their adoring dad.

Ellie was super excited to go to her first father/daughter dance.

The girls ran the final mile of their marathon today at school. Ellie came in first place for the girls in kindergarten. Katelyn was also a top girl in the second grade. The elementary school was raising money for orphanages in Africa. They raised $25,000 and had an anonymous donor give an additional $15,000.

Gardening with Dad

I have looked at my thumbs on many occasions,  and they are most definitely not green. However, I am very blessed that my loving husband is passing on his love of the outdoors and gardening to our kids. Last week he put together a little raised garden bed for each of them. Ellie has flowers in hers and Katelyn has vegetables (taking after her grandpa Nick). Unfortunately, the dogs also like the nice soft beds and already flattened some of Katelyn's. Looks like replanting is on the agenda for the weekend :)

Water play day

We have found the two things that Owen likes to do most on a warm day: Water play and swords. So one day last week, he decided to attach the sprinkler with his sword. I think the water won.

And because I have this new camera and he was looking so darn cute, I just kept snapping away.

I've been told I made this look when I was his age.

Spring Soccer

As I looked over the pictures I took this weekend at the girls' soccer games, I was truly envious of those people with the gift of photography--having the eye and the speed to capture just the right shot. I don't have that gift, so you get what you get--sometimes a tad late.  But I couldn't help noticing how grown up they both look.  Although they don't play with a goalie in Ellie's age group, she is a natural defender, always running back to protect the net.

Katelyn

Ellie

I found this one of Katelyn's first season. Look at the concentration on her face.  The second one is one of my favorites of all time.

Easter in Louisville

Spent a wonderful Easter weekend in Louisville with the family.  Good Friday is our traditional Easter egg dying night when all the kids/grandkids go to Grandma Karen's. Loved visiting with Grandma Libby and Mema Shirley.
