Cheerleading debut

After one hour stints at Cheer Girl Camp, Katelyn made her cheerleading debut at the Christ Presbyterian Academy vs Father Ryan football game. It was the cutest, most hysterical thing I have ever seen. I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Katelyn LOVES the cheerleaders at the game. Each fall and spring, the girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade get to cheer at one football and one basketball game. They spend two hours the week before learning the cheers and then cheer that Friday night. They are not necessarily expected to know it and half the fun is watching the littlest ones get out there. But our Katelyn outshined everyone. She has recently been taking dance, so she did some headstands out there, some cartwheels that looked like a breakdance routine and some flips. Of course I put some bloomers on here so her panties wouldn't show, not expecting she would be doing headstands with her butt in the air giving everybody a view.

Needless to say it was a great show and everyone had a great time. Ellie did her cheering from the sidelines.

Katelyn switched gears on Saturday and scored three goals to help her team win their first game (or at least we think they won. no official score is kept).

And she SCORES

Katelyn had her first soccer game today and scored our team's lone goal. She was awesome. I am biased I must admit, but she has skills for a four year old. I am sure she gets them from her daddy and uncle Tom. Unfortunately, our team is not that strong and we were heavily routed. But they had lots of fun. One picture is of them showing the ref that they are properly equipped. Another one you can see Katelyn's ponytail whipping past. Grandma will get a front row seat next week. They are called the American Girls.

Dentist

In addition to it being Ellie's first day of school, both girls also got a trip to the dentist. They both did wonderful and opened right up. Last time Ellie cried the whole time and this year, she laid there and just let them go to work. I can't believe how she has grown up in six months. We are also looking at getting an appliance of sorts for Katelyn's thumb-sucking and cross bite. Pray for us all as we begin the transition away from the thumb. She goes for her molds on Tuesday.

First Day of School

Although the girls technically go to school year round, their official first day of the year fell while they were out of town for the week. For us, Katelyn's first day was Monday, Sept. 8 and Ellie's was Tues. Sept. 9. Unfortunately, Ellie woke up sick on Monday and had to stay home with her daddy. They were decked out in new lunch boxes, and Katelyn is even suppose to carry a backpack this year. Exciting things await as we get ready for kindergarten.

Visiting the cousins

The kids got to take a week off of school to visit their cousins in Louisville. Aunt Dana, Cousin Sophia and new cousin Emma were in from Arizona and met us all at Otter Creek and then the girls stayed in Louisville for the week. Amy and Sherry met back up with them the next weekend for yardsale mania and a wedding shower for Angela.

Cheer girl

Katelyn is officially a cheer girl. O.K. They only cheer at one football game and one basketball game, but she has been beggggggiiiiinnnngggg to do it ever since last year's CPA game when she saw the 50 girls down on the field all out of rhythm. She got her little cheer girl outfit. They have two hours of cheer girl camp and then they will cheer at the CPA game on September 26. I'll post more pictures then. Needless to say we are also steering her to other sports. She has started soccer.

Mud baths??

Who needs all those fancy toys when you have water and dirt? Katelyn decided to give Ellie a mud bath and then herself. I'd post the ones of Ellie, but she had stripped down and was nothing but mud.

Our first cars

Katelyn and Ellie both drove Go-carts when they went to Pennsylvania earlier this month. For both of them it seems the faster the better.

Look at me in my big girl bed

We finally took the rails off of Ellie's crib and converted it into a toddler bed. She looks so proud. Unfortunately, she still prefers to sleep on the floor.

Will you marry daddy again????

That has been the question of the day for Katelyn lately. Ever since going to Louisville last month and seeing my wedding dress in a box, she is obsessed with weddings--that on top of anxiously awaiting to walk down the aisle in Angela's wedding. So she keeps asking me if I'm going to marry daddy again. So in an effort to appease her, we hosted a good old fashioned wedding in our family room. Amy wore a Kohls dress with a lovely tiara veil picked out by her flower girl Katelyn . Katelyn wore her "party" dress. Ellie walked down the aisle first. OK, it was really our upstairs hallway, but who noticed? Katelyn followed her and Amy, looking stunning in pink, met the groom in the family room. The groom was wearing a stylish coat and shorts. The officiant, Sherry, wore a black flowing robe. All applauded as the groom once again kissed the bride. The reception followed with tea and then a wedding dance. We are sorry that no one was invited. It was a rather quick elopement.

All dressed up

My baby is getting married. . . Not really, but that is what greeted me today when I got home from work. Ellie was all dressed up to be a bride with wings of course. Perhaps she was more of an angel than anything.

My favorite picture for now

This is still my favorite picture. I took it a month or so ago when the girls were playing in the kitchen. Katelyn out of the blue said, mommy take a picture of us and it was just too cute.

On sabbatical

So you all are probably wondering what we have been doing since Easter. My friendly reminder cousin has given me a few months off (no nagging), so I have of course slacked off. We just got back from Costa Rica this week. It was an amazing kid-free adventure week. The girls stayed with their grandma and Aunt Sherry and were spoiled with lots of family love all week. Alan and I went with another couple to Costa Rica where we white water rafted, zip lined through a rain forest, hiked around a volcano and hit the beach. For more details, you should go to my friend's blog at www.habbenet.net. He is a much better, more consistent blogger than I am.

However, I am enclosing a couple of pictures from our trip.
One is Alan and I in front of the Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna. One is the view from our room in Quepos--loved it. The last is a picture of one of the monkey's we saw in the park. It was literally five feet from me on the path.

Spring Break and Easter

We spent a week in Amelia Island with the Calhoun/Barger clan. The girls loved following around their cousins and received lots of love. They had an Easter Egg Hunt out in the common area. We also had family photos made by a friend of Marilyn's. We hope they turn out well.

Weekend at Grandma's

We went up to Louisville last weekend and woke up with 8-10 inches of snow. This kids didn't really know what to do with it. They also went on an Easter Egg hunt and were spoiled by their aunts and cousins.

Look what we woke up to

Not a lot of snow, but white just the same. Of course, school was canceled for me and the kids so we are currently spending the day together. The girls got up bright and early and went outside to play. We searched high and low for Ellie's snow suit, but couldn't find it. Here are a couple of photos of them playing. Of course, two hours later and I have located the elusive snow suit. So we must hope for more snow so Ellie can show it off with her snow boots (also MIA).

To the dentist today

Both girls went to the dentist today and I am happy to report are cavity free. Katelyn did awesome. She jumped right up in the chair and asked a zillion questions. She was an excellent patient. Ellie was a little less willing, hence I was not able to get photos of her.

Look at my new hair cut

The girls got cuts yesterday. Katelyn's was more of a small trim, but Ellie's was a bit more. She got lots of compliments at daycare and was very proud of it. The first picture is before. The second is of her showing off her hair and her belly. The third is just one of her funny faces.

Katelyn on the climbing wall

I took this one with my phone so it is not that good. She went to a party yesterday that had a climbing wall. I am hoping a friend will email the ones she took which are much better. My little Katelyn is fearless.

A visit from the relatives

Here a couple of pictures from the Bibelhauser visit last month. They are not as up to date as my anonymous emailer would like, but it is what I have. However, both girls got their trimmed today, so I should have photos to post soon. I have to get a post picture of Ellie. She was starting to look like Cousin It with all that hair in her eyes.
